How to work best with your local bookseller

Join us at Storysmith bookshop on 24 September from 6.30pm to find out how you can work best with your local bookseller. How can you get you book onto the shelves of your local bookshop? What’s the best way to approach a bookshop for an event or signing? How can authors support their local independents? Elizabeth Haylett-Clark from Society of Authors talks to Dan Ross, co-owner of Storysmith, to find out some crucial dos and don'ts. There’ll be plenty of time for you to ask questions, meet fellow local authors and browse the shelves! About Storysmith Storysmith is one of Bristol's only independent bookshops, opened in October 2018 by Emily and Dan Ross after careers in publishing and journalism. They stock a tightly curated selection of fiction, non-fiction and children's books, as well as hosting literary events (previous guests have included Patrick Gale, Sharlene Teo, Ben Aaronovitch, Megan Hunter and Tom Cox). They've also worked on external events with the likes of Writers and Artists/Bloomsbury, Dialogue Books and Bristol Old Vic, and work closely with schools in the local BS3 community. They also have a shop dog named Roy.
