      Joining Forces- A showcase of community services and membership networks

      Join us for a free event on Wednesday 20 November at Trinity Community Arts Centre to find out more information about local membership and community services that can help you to strengthen your own organisation and to build resilience. You can drop in and chat to us, and any of our following partners any time between 11am and 2pm. Brought together by Good Things Foundation, the Online Centres Network is made up of over 5,000 community organisations, all working to tackle digital and social inclusion by providing people with the skills and confidence they need to access digital technology. We offer a free and unique digital skills platform, Learn My Way, and we'll be giving live demos of this at the event. There will be a small number of team members on hand too to talk about the many benefits of becoming a member of the Network.  Locality is the national network supporting community organisations to be strong and successful. They believe in the power of community to build a fairer society. They aim to achieve this with peer learning and connection through their membership network; specialist advice and support; and campaigning to create a better operating environment for community organisations.  WECIL (The Centre of West England for Inclusive Living) is a charity run by and for disabled people in Bristol and the surrounding areas. The charity offers a range of services which support over 4,000 disabled people every year - in all different aspects of their lives. Collaboratively, these provide a holistic package of support which is tailored to the individual which gives disabled people more choice and control over their lives.  Citzen's Advice Bristol is a charity that aims to provide free, independent, impartial and confident advice to whoever may need it. They aim to help give people the knowledge and confidence to tackle problems with good quality, independent advice. Their network of charities offers confidential advice online, over the phone and in person, for free.  Voscur (Supporting Voluntary Action) is an organisation that helps community groups and social enterprises improve the lives of local people. They offer practical help and advice, as well as provide training which is tailored for voluntary, community and social enterprise groups. Voscur also supports collaboration between local groups to help improve the the quality and impact of their services and to increase its effectiveness and sustainability.  North Somerset Training offers training courses that provide learners with the essential skills to use a computer and the internet safely. They also deliver functional skills in partnership with local organisations.  Their learners are guaranteed to become more confident whilst engaging in a great learning experience. North Somerset Training is a partner with the UK online centres and is a City & Guilds approved centre. They also work in partnership with Jobcentre Plus and North Somerset Community Learning Team where their volunteers help in the training classes to give learners the best support..  Groundwork South is a not-for-profit organisation that supports communities at a grassroots level, providing high quality sustainable projects that fit three overarching themes of: creating better places, improving people’s prospects and promoting greener living and working. Communities Prepared is one of its flagship projects, run in partnership with the Environment Agency, Cornwall Community Flood Forum and Cornwall College Business. This nationwide resilience programme equips communities across the country with the knowledge and tools to effectively prepare for, respond to and recover from, emergencies such as flooding, snow, other severe weather events and utilities failures. Learn with Unite is a part of Unite the Union and the project is funded by the Department of Education. A range of courses are offered through our project to promote lifelong learning within workplaces and the community. Our learning includes digital inclusion from basic online skills through to accredited computer qualifications, English, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), distance learning and for Unite members a range of discounted higher level e-learning courses. We can support with improving computer skills, creating a CV, searching for jobs, interview skills, improving English and Maths skills, upskilling, booking GP appointments online, revising for the driving theory test and so much more.
